Writing Great Essays
«I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows is the beginning of a beautiful song called В«I BelieveВ». Its not just a song, its an essay in rhyme, set to music about the authors belief system. If youre writing and I Believe Essay, thats basically what youll need to do… without the rhyme and music, of course. Some might have to still research essay topics if they do not have a strong belief system.
Everyone has something they believe in, whether its God or nature or even themselves. Most В«believersВ» have something religious to place their faith in. There are some who profess to believe in nothing at all. A dear friend of mine went from being a serious Christian to no faith in anything. He had an emptiness that was sad to see. The last time I talked to him, he had created an almost religious belief in political issues.
An I Believe Essay might contain any belief that holds you to certain standards and gives you something to think about beyond yourself. First and foremost, its best to consider what you do believe. What do you hold sacred? How did you develop your method of acting upon that belief? Do you attend church? Or celebrate the wonders of nature and pray to the Higher Power that created the amazing world we live in? Is your belief in science? Or politics? Or just belief in yourself? Think about it carefully.
Examining the need for a religion or faith or belief is another good way to prepare to write an I Believe Essay. Some churches have prayers that list their particular beliefs, such as the В«Apostles CreedВ» in the Catholic Church. Or the Ten Articles of Faith that the Mormons honor. Believing in the Bible illustrates the central precepts of both the Christian religions and Judaism. As a child looks up to and trusts parents and teachers, so do adults need a higher authority to appeal to and rely on.
Theres an old saying in the Army, «There are no atheists in a foxhole.» Its true of most people that they call on God when they are in danger (and there are few places more dangerous than a foxhole in wartime!) If you arent sure what you believe, imagine yourself in a serious situation… a life or death situation… and ask yourself what youd do? Or remember losing a loved one and asked if you said any prayers for the departed.
Easier still, when something wonderful happens, like narrowly avoiding and accident, who do you thank? I spoke to someone recently who said «Thank Gosh,» probably trying to sound like a Christian to keep from offending me. That was a pretty good sign that she wasn’t particularly religious.
While knowing what you believe may be easy in the privacy of your own thoughts, it may be a little more difficult to articulate it in essay form and create analytical essays. The research for an I Believe Essay must therefore come from you, yourself. Analyzing what you think and believe and how you feel may not be as easy as it sounds. But it can be done, regardless of essay length requirements, if you put your mind to it and believe in yourself.
