I’m in a listicle! I’ve arrived!

The other day I noticed an unusually high number of Etsy favorite notifications on my phone – which, as it turns out, were due to click-through traffic from Buzzfeed. The listicle29 Perfect Merit Badges for Adults” featured three of my Snarky Scouts badges: Instagram Selfies, Skinny Dipping, and Dirty Dancing.

This is awesome because A) it’s just awesome to see one’s work listed alongside other cool projects; B) my Etsy shop’s traffic has gone up; and C) lots of people are marking badges as “favorites” in Etsy.

However, these views aren’t yet translating to sales. So far I’ve had only one, and that was to a cool dude in the UK.

C’mon Americans! I’m impatient and you should be too!

Just kidding.

Sort of.

But the good thing about having more people favorite my work is that when I list new items, they very well might show up on those folks’ Etsy homepages.  Time to list some of my new designs!

Countdown to Crafty Bastards!

craftybastardBadge Just 11 days left to get ready for the big craft fair! My successfully funded Kickstarter campaign has been a huge help in getting the supplies I need to have a good showing on Sept. 27 and 28. This week I will send out over 100 badges as rewards for all my generous Kickstarter backers, and then I’ve got about 240 badges left to take to the fair. I’m also starting to construct the display elements for my booth. My challenge is to make free-standing displays that will work well, but also A) be inexpensive and B) fit in my MINI Cooper!

I’m also working on a prototype of some badge brooches. More on this later.

Stay snarky!

Last week I launched a Kickstarter project to help me get some funds to ramp up production of these badges.  I’ve got one week left to secure pledges for the remaining 52% of my goal.  If you’re into these badges, please contribute to my Kickstarter project so I can crank out a whole bunch!

It’s also your opportunity to get your hands on the limited-edition Kickstarter Hero badges!

Crafty Bastards 2014: I made the cut!

I am so excited to share the news that I was accepted to be a vendor at Crafty Bastards in DC this September 27 & 28. This was my first time applying, so I’m very honored to have made the cut. According to their site, this isn’t so easy to do:

The jury judges applicants based on their artwork and look for high quality, handmade, alternative items. The competition for booths is steep. In past years, we’ve received over 500 applications for 140+ available booth spaces.

Now I must get busy! First step is to finish and launch my Kickstarter project to raise some funds to help me ramp up production of mucho snark certificates. Stay tuned for more.

Crafty Bastards – I’m applying!

Today’s the deadline and I’m now putting the finishing touches on my application to be a vendor at this fall’s Crafty Bastards. I absolutely love this DC-based alternative craft fair, and I’ve always aspired to be a vendor. Now that my Snarky Scouts project is underway, I hope this will be my chance to be a crafty bastard.

Look: Last year I blogged how excited I was about Crafty Bastards. And I wasn’t even a vendor then.

In 2011, I came out in the cold and wet to help Pyramid Atlantic demonstrate letterpress. That's dedication!
